It Should Happen To You
I watched It Should Happen to You this weekend. It starred Judy Holiday and Jack Lemon. It is about a woman who loses her modeling job and meets a filmmaker in Central Park, Jack Lemon only in the movie his name is Pete. She's always wanted to be somebody so she scrapes together enough money to buy a place on an advertising billboard. Of course a real ad agency wants the spot and they wind up giving her more 10 billboards for the one.
It struck me how relevant the movie is still today. You still have people who just want to be famous, just want to be popular. In this movie people who had seen the billboards new her name and that's all it took. They didn't know who she was, what she did, why she was famous, they just knew her name. So they all flocked around her to get her autograph.
It really is a great movie, it's funny and sweet, a true classic.
Just thought I'd share.

It's funny how great those old movies still are today. I think that most of the crap made today will not stand up to the test of time.

Jay- Tis sad but true. I can't think of many movies out nowadays that I would think of so fondly as those of the past. Makes you think that nothing new can be found under the sun. Or, Hollywood sucks which we all know in our hearts is true, we just don't want it to be. We have to look to independant directors or foreign films for different films that don't talk down to us or aren't the mass produced crap they've made for the short attention-spanned youth of today.
I must warn those that go to find this film that if you don't like black and white and this deters you from this film, you will sorely miss out. Jack Lemon and Judy Holiday were comic geniuses of their time. A true joy to watch.
